Saturday, October 24, 8:00 p.m.
Obbini Tumbao: Afro-Cuban Rhythms

“If Mambo Kings Poncho Sanchez and Tito Puente got together to jam with Herb Alpert and Ry Cooder of the Buena Vista Social Club, it might sound something like Obbini Tumbao.” - Liza Weisstuch, Boston Globe

Rumba, cha-cha-chá, conga, mambo, and salsa into the night. The band’s lead vocals are surrounded by a powerful horn section made up of trumpets and trombones, and a churning rhythm section of congas, timbales, bongos, piano and bass. Sit back (if you can) as Obbini Tumbao will takes you by the ear to Cuba and back.

This concert concludes Obbini Tumbao’s residency, part of the MusicUnitesUS Intercultural Residency Series at Brandeis University. We invite you to join us in open classes, discussions, film, concerts, and workshops as we celebrate the music and culture of Cuba and the Afro-Caribbean diaspora!
